Connecting Cursor to Zirko

For people who write software — one entry in the mcp.json file, for one project or for all.

On this page

Cursor is a program by Anysphere for writing software, with an AI assistant that works alongside you. Once connected, it works in Zirko with your permissions — what it may do and what never is explained in What AI assistants may do in Zirko.

You do not write software? Then use Claude instead: there you only enter an address, on every plan. For Cursor you write an entry in a settings file, and a single missing comma makes it invalid.

First, in Zirko: AI assistants are allowed in your business (Settings → Company → AI assistants, Office – Admin only). Under How to connect your assistant, Copy address copies the address for your assistant.

How to connect

  1. Pick the file. Cursor reads its connections from a file called mcp.json. For a single project it is .cursor/mcp.json in the project folder, for all projects ~/.cursor/mcp.json — the ~ character stands for your home folder. If the file does not exist yet, create it.
  2. Add Zirko. The file needs this entry, with the copied address in place of ADDRESS: { "mcpServers": { "zirko": { "url": "ADDRESS" } } } If other servers are already listed, add "zirko": { "url": "ADDRESS" } as another entry under mcpServers.
  3. Agree. Cursor opens Zirko to sign in. Sign in, check the business and role, and choose Connect.

Cursor does not name a specific plan for this. In Enterprise, an admin can set which connections are allowed. Before Cursor uses a Zirko tool, it asks for your permission by default, according to the vendor. (Information from Cursor, checked on 11 October 2026.)

On the consent page, Cursor shows up as Connecting from: a program on this device or Connecting from: Cursor on this device — the sign-in comes from the program on your computer, not from a website. Both are correct.

Before it does anything final

Issuing, sending, reminders, cancellations and the other actions that cannot be taken back are only carried out by Zirko after your explicit yes. The assistant shows you the exact details first — read them before you agree.

If it does not work

  • Zirko does not appear in Cursor — check the brackets in mcp.json. A missing comma or quotation mark makes the whole file invalid.
  • “AI assistants are switched off in …” — the admin has to allow them first. Then restart the connection.
  • “This request is no longer valid” — the request is only valid for a few minutes. Restart the connection in Cursor.

Disconnect any time under My assistants → Disconnect, in the app under Profile → AI assistants. It takes effect immediately. Afterwards, remove the entry from mcp.json yourself.
